Job Description for MAPA Board

Metropolitan Activity Professional Association

 

 

Job Summary:

The Vice President of MAPA shall represent the Region 6 (MAPA) of MNSWAP.
Shall perform the duties of President in her/his absence and complete the President’s term if she/he is unable to do so.

 

Term of Office:

The Vice President is voting member and elected term length of 2 years, and may serve multiple terms as elected.

Elections will take place at the Fall Business Meeting. Then a transition period will take place with the out-going officers.

Transition to include an orientation of position and transfer of files. Vice President will be sworn in as Region 6

Representative at the state level at the October conference business meeting and will take full MAPA office responsibility

before January 1st of the new ‘odd’ membership year.

 

Responsible To:

The Executive Boards of MAPA and MNSWAP and their memberships.

 

Requirements:

  1. Professional attitude
  2. Honesty
  3. Goal minded, keeping the MAPA mission and objectives upper most in mind.
  4. Good organizational, communication and leadership skills
  5. Member in good standing of MAPA, MNSWAP
  6. Work with other Region 6 related associations
  7. Perform duties and responsibilities of their position in an ethical manner as relates to the By-laws, policy and job description.
  8. Be prepared to give report or address issues as called upon at MAPA meetings.

 

Time Commitment:   

 MAPA:   4+ Board meetings  &  5 Sessions (1/2 & full days)                                                                                                                          

MN SWAP: 4+ board meetings, 1 Spring workshop, 1 Fall Conference (October, 3 day length,      

fee/room paid by MN SWAP)

Approximately 8+ hours per month

Vice President Responsibilities:

  1. Attend all Executive Board meetings and special meetings.
  2. Promote and uphold the by-laws, goals, mission and objectives of the MAPA organization and provide direction for the future goals of MAPA.
  3. Liaison to MAPA for legislative matters.
  4. Maintain an organizational file of appropriate documents, minutes, letters and other association information.
  5. Perform the duties of the President in her/his absence or complete the term of President if position should be vacated.
  6. Perform special projects for the President as requested and able.
  7. Prepare an Annual Report (accomplishments, special projects, MNSWAP info and any misc. information) to be submitted at the year-end board meeting, with a copy to the President.
  8. Submit appropriate expenses to the Treasurer for reimbursement with prior approval of President staying within budget allotment.
  9. Review and update this job description as needed at the first Board meeting of the year.
  10. Take an active role in the board
  11. Submit MAPA and MNSWAP articles on time.
  12. Present and report on current activities at the board meetings. (Both at MAPA and MNSWAP.)
  13. Region 6 Representative-comply with MNSWAP By-laws and job description.
  14. Solicit nominations for the MNSWAP annual awards.
