Job Description for MAPA Board

Metropolitan Activity Professional Association


 

Job Summary:

 The President of MAPA shall preside over all membership Business meetings,

 Executive Board meetings, shall direct the affairs of this association as its chief

 administrative officer, shall be the ex-official member of all committees, and shall

 appoint members to fill vacancies of offices between elections.

 

Term of Office:

The President is voting member and elected term length of 2 years plus 1 year as  Post President, 

and may serve multiple terms as elected. Elections will take place at the Fall Business Meeting. 

Then a transition period will take place with the out- going officers to include an orientation of position

and transfer of files. Will take full MAPA office responsibility before January 1st of the new ‘even’ membership year.

 

Responsible To:

The Executive Boards of MAPA and MNSWAP and their memberships.

 

Requirements:

  1. Professional attitude.
  2. Honesty.
  3. Goal minded, keeping the MAPA mission and objectives upper most in mind.
  4. Good organizational, communication and leadership skills.
  5. Member in good standing of MAPA, MNSWAP.
  6. Work with other Region 6 related associations.
  7. Perform duties and responsibilities of their position in an ethical manner as relates to the By-laws and job description.
  8. Be prepared to give report or address issues as called upon at MAPA meetings/sessions.
  9. Computer skills

 

Time Commitment:

4+ Board Meetings

5 Workshops/Sessions (1/2 & Full Days)

MNSWAP attendance at both Spring workshop and Fall Convention (paid for by MAPA)

Other___________

Approximately _8+_ hours per month

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Attend all Executive Board meetings and special meetings.
  2. Update with the Secretary of State non-profit status (Annually in Dec.)
  3. Update with WCCO School/Business Closing for advertising if session is closed.   612-339-4444
  4. Promote and uphold the By-laws, goals, mission, and objectives of the MAPA organization and provide direction for the future goals of MAPA.
  5. Maintain an organizational file of appropriate documents, minutes, letters and other association information.
  6. Appoint replacement board member(s), or complete the term if position should be vacated with approval of the Board.
  7. Submit appropriate expenses to the Treasurer for reimbursement.
  8. Review and update this job description as needed at the first Board Meeting of the year.
  9. Take an active role in the board.
  10. Submit MAPA articles on time.
  11. Preside over all Executive Board meeting and Business membership meetings.
  12. Preside over MAPA workshops/sessions.
  13. Formulate and distribute agenda/order of business for the above meetings to all Board members.
  14. Greet and orientate new Board Members to their newly acquired position.
  15. Approve Board members absence prior to any MAPA meetings/sessions/workshops.
  16. Perform special projects as requested and able.
  17. Prepare an Annual Report to be submitted at the year-end board meeting.
  18. Maintain a list of all year-end reports from Board members.
  19. Oversee committee members and their functions.
  20. Work with Treasurer on MAPA Budget for each year.
  21. Be prepared to assist with registration when needed (in-person events).
  22. At the beginning of each session/workshop, introduce yourself and talk of any updates, welcoming MAPA members, etc.
