Have You Ever Seen The Rain- Creedence Clearwater Revival
They say music stays with us no matter how far gone our memory gets. For those of us lucky enough to work in Memory care or with anyone diagnosed with Dementia for that matter, we know just how true this is.
We all have residents with late-stage Dementia unable to talk and sometimes even unable to open their eyes. Bring in a music therapist and watch the magic!
I heard a song on the radio that reminded me just how music affects memory just the other day. I got to work and continued to sing this song while walking the halls and low and behold residents started singing along. And it was amazing!
Already this summer we are dealing with a rain shortage. Do not get me wrong, we have been amazingly blessed with a great number of sunny days. However, if it does not start raining soon, everything will stop growing and flourishing. Just like if we don’t “water” our residents with compassion, empathy, and love, they will not grow and flourish in our care. Thank you all for watering your garden every day and making sure all of those in your care “See The Rain”.
With Love and Gratitude,
Jennifer Lachermeier MAPA President
Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm
I know it's been comin' for some time
When it's over so they say
It'll rain a sunny day
I know shinin' down like water
I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down on a sunny day?
Yesterday and days before
Sun is cold and rain is hard
I know been that way for all my time
'Til forever, on it goes
Through the circle, fast and slow,
I know it can't stop, I wonder
I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down on a sunny day?
