President's Desk
A note from Jennifer Lachermeier,
MAPA President
Spring is in the air, and I don’t know about you, but I am getting a bit restless. Spring
Fever is setting in awful bad not only within myself, but also within those who are more
“homebound” and in much dire need of getting out in the sunshine and green grass. So, my
message today is this:
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God” (Matthew 5:9, NIV)

The definition of Peacemaker is a person who brings about peace especially by
reconciling adversaries. How many times a day do you “bring about peace”? Other words for it include mediator, negotiator, middleman, referee, and go-between. How many of those
sound familiar?
We are often called to intercede, respond, or simply just stand and absorb frustration,
sadness and sometimes even rage. Our activities can be the “go to” to help alleviate most of these situations. We can seize those instances, bridge the wedge, and reconnect residents
not only to each other but also to their own inner peace. We do this by being open to
reason, having patience and going the extra mile.
So, my fellow “Peacemakers” go out today and make some peace! Not only with your
residents, but with yourselves. It may not be easy, but we (and others!) will be blessed.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Lachermeier, MAPA President
